“I went from a size 16 to a size 6!”
As Janice Bahnman hiked up a mountain with her family, she had to pause every 20 feet to catch her breath. It’s so sad that I can’t enjoy the beauty around me because I’m gasping for air, she thought. Finally, her brother tied a rope around her waist to help pull her along.
Janice felt as worn-out as the fabric on her stretch pants. And when her doctor said she needed cholesterol medication, she knew something had to change. “My mind went straight to my dad’s stroke at 67.”
So Janice turned to Sharon Fast, R.D., who coached her through a sixweek intermittent fasting program to boost autophagy and promote health. Three days a week, Janice completed 13-hour fasts, starting her day with coffee and attending TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meetings for encouragement.
In five weeks, Janice shed 9 pounds and 2 belly inches. “It’s surprising to lose weight at this age,” she says. “It’s the best thing that’s ever happened.” As for her cholesterol: “My numbers are all perfect.” Janice even has the energy to play soccer with her grandkids.
