This powerful combo destroys EBV

-

Just as it fights the flu, vitamin C can help combat Epstein-Barr virus

(EBV), says Fred Pescatore, M.D., author of The A-List Diet. The key? Supplementing with vitamin C and lysine, an antiviral amino acid. “They’re a great combo,” says Dr. Pescatore, who explains that vitamin C forces lysine into virus cells, causing them to burst. He advises taking 500 mg. of vitamin C and 1,000 mg. of lysine together three times daily, gradually increasing your C dosage not to exceed 6,000 mg. daily. But since high doses of C can lead to GI issues, he suggests cutting back to the previous dose if you experience symptoms like nausea or diarrhea. “Almost 100% will improve in adrenal function, energy and elimination of the virus,” says Dr. Pescatore. If this strategy doesn’t bring more energy in two weeks, ask your doctor about getting C through IV therapy, which was shown to lower the presence of EBV by up to 97%.
