“I earn $38,000 a year with RV rentals”
“For years, my husband and I have owned a recreational vehicle (RV) and run an RV-repair business. So when I learned I could rent out the vehicle with RV Share (RVShare.com), I decided to give it a try.
“It’s simple to use the site. I created an account, provided my contact information and specific details about the vehicle, including the type, year, make, model and capacity, along with how I wanted to get paid. The RV has to be less than 10 years old and not have a salvage certificate, which means the vehicle has been deemed by the insurance company as unusable. I then added the listing, which includes photos and information about the length of the RV, the trailer total weight and the hitch weight, what is provided with the rental and other details about the vehicle.
“When a customer contacts me, I talk to them about things, like what level of experience they have with
RVs, how to use the rig, operate the propane tank, how to avoid damage and how to drive it safely.
“I charge per night, month or week. I also charge for washing the exterior and dumping the sewer tank, and I take a deposit to cover the insurance deductible. People can leave feedback about their experience and ratings through the platform. I found the process so easy that my husband and I ended up buying two more RVs on consignment, which we also rent out.
“Last year, I had 58 reservations, for which I earned $38,000. The money I make pays the bills and allows me the flexibility to be available for my kids when they’re sick or I have parentteacher conferences.”
