First For Women

“I earn up to $4,000 a month selling herbal products!”

-

“I used to be a real estate lawyer, but when I had children, I started gardening and growing my own food, plants and herbs. Typically, I grow between 50 and 100 types of herbs, and I wanted to find a way to sell the extras. At first, I started selling dried herbs on Etsy, but I couldn’t compete with overseas sellers. So after a year, I decided to use my herbs to make products and sell them on my website, TheNakedBotanical.com.

“When I first launched my business, I read books about how to make herbinfused products, and I took an online course from the Living Awareness Institute [LivingAwareness.com]. I also spent a lot of time experimenting and asking friends and family to test out the products and give their feedback. I hired a graphic designer friend to design the packaging, and I created the website using a template.

“I make five types of hydrosols, or floral waters, that can be used for aromatherapy and skincare, as well as flower essences, salves, tea and herbal salt blends. I strip and cut all of the herbs by hand, and I purchase herbs from other farms that I know have the same standards I do. I also sell my products at farmers markets and craft fairs.

“I love running this business. I get to be out in nature most of the day and even until dusk—my favorite part of the day because it’s so calm and that’s when the fireflies come out! I also get a high when people tell me they feel better after using my products.”
