“Finally! My thyroid is normal again”

-

Mina’s heart sank as she looked at her social media feed. “Everyone was at a friend’s birthday party except me,” she recalls. ”I don’t know if I was excluded because of how I looked or because I wasn’t as mobile as they were, but I was pretty sure it was about my weight. I was devastated.”

Overweight since childhood, Mina’s anxiety and depression climbed as her weight did. “I finally went to my doctor, and she diagnosed me with Type 2 diabetes and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. She prescribed medication and told me to lose weight.”

Mina did some research and decided to eliminate grains and dairy and focus on whole foods. A naturopath she consulted suggested adding healthy fats. “That surprised me,” Mina says. “I thought fat was bad.” But she started incorporating them into her vegetable-rich meals.

Within a month, Mina lost 22 pounds. By six months, her thyroid levels had returned to normal, and in a year, she no longer needed diabetes medication. “My doctor was shocked. She asked if she could show my results to her other patients so they could see what was possible,” says Mina.

“And when I turned

50, I was surrounded by people who love me. I have my life back!”
