First For Women

“Nothing holds me back now!”

-

That’s the word from researchers reporting in the journal Frontiers in Psychology. In a study, subjects spent 20 minutes a day outside at a park three times a week, without using their phones. Tests revealed that folks produced 28% lower levels of cortisol and alpha-amylase, two markers of stress, after each break. What’s more, the biggest benefits were seen in those sitting or walking at an easy pace outside, not vigorously exercising. The study authors say the peaceful sounds and visual beauty of nature have a soothing effect on the body.
