Black currant speeds post-exercise recovery

To bounce back from a workout, supplement with black currant extract before exercising. Investigat­ors reporting in the journal Frontiers in Nutrition found that volunteers who took black currant extract an hour before a 30-minute workout had significan­tly lower heart rates and levels of oxidative stress (a marker of cell damage) post-exercise than those who didn’t, as the fruit’s flavonoids keep oxidative stress in check.
