Replacing carbs with almonds can help you feel happier, reveals research in the journal Nutrients. Type 2 diabetics who cut 150 grams of carbs (about 3 cups of rice) and added 56 grams of almonds (about 40 nuts) reduced symptoms of depression. The scientists credit amino acids in almonds with boosting the production of the “happy” hormone serotonin, and cutting carbs with steadying blood-sugar levels.
