Here’s a reason to take time for your usual morning cup of joe, especially on busy days: Routines help you get more done, say researcher­s reporting in the journal Personnel Psychology. They surveyed people three times a day for three weeks, tracking their routines and their energy levels, productivi­ty and sense of calm, and found that people were more anxious, tired and unfocused on days their routines were disrupted. Investigat­ors explain that routines free the brain from thinking about mundane tasks so you can free up mental energy for checking off your to-do’s.
