A darling daffodil bouquet to brighten the day

This Easter, florists are styling sunny, fresh-picked blooms into wrapped vases to echo the joyful spirit of the season. “Here, a mix of daffodils, which symbolize hope, combine for an eye-catching, sunshine-hued look,” says floral pro Maureen White-Goeman of Maureen’s Designs in Chelsea, Michigan. “And the vase adds a from-the-garden feel—it’s ideal for any spring table!”
GET THE LOOK
Add water to a 6"-tall vase, then snip about 24 daffodil stems in a few varieties (like white “Goblet” and yellow “Tete-a-Tete”) to 8" to 10". Add flowers to vase, alternating colors and sizes to form a rounded mound. Gather handfuls of dogwood branches or green twigs from the backyard and snip to 7". Slip a rubber band around the vase; tuck twigs under the band until covered. Tie a ribbon around the band.

Daffodils prefer cooler temperatures (especially once they’re cut), so display this bouquet where temperatures are lowest in your home, away from heat sources and out of direct sun to extend its life by a week or more. Also smart: Daffodils last longer in shallow water, so only fill your vase about one-third to halfway full and change water every two days, stirring in a drop or two of bleach to kill bacteria.
