On the dining room table: A cascading crocus centerpiece
“This visually interesting cone-shaped crocus centerpiece instantly brings to mind a spring meadow on a hillside,” says Ziegler. To create this display, roll a piece of chicken wire into a cone shape and use small snips of floral wire to hold the shape. Tuck a layer of craft-store moss inside the cone. Then, working from the inside, insert shoots of crocus bulbs through the holes of the chicken wire. Firmly fill the rest of the cone with moss to hold the bulbs in place, then set the base of the cone on a plate. Wrap a purple ribbon around the base to finish. Give bright light and keep the bulbs moist. To hydrate, set the display in the sink and water the bulbs, being careful not to wet the blooms.
