The best nuts to protect heart health
You already know nuts are great for your health. Now Spanish researchers reporting in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology say walnuts, in particular, are the best option to protect your heart. Participants in their study either ate 30 grams to 60 grams of walnuts (about
14 to 28 walnut halves) daily or consumed no walnuts. Those who ate the nuts were notably less likely to develop cardiovascular disease over the two-year study period. The scientists credit walnuts’ rich stores of healthy fats and antioxidants, which help reduce heartdamaging inflammation.
