Unexpected power of gratitude
Expressing your thanks for something a co-worker has done has a bigger impact than you might realize, say researchers at the University of Central Florida. They had employees in a company fill out surveys twice a day for two weeks, reporting their energy levels, as well as how appreciated they felt by their team. The findings: People reported feeling more energized on days when others expressed appreciation.
The study authors say this recognition makes us feel that others like us, which contributes to our ability to maintain a positive outlook and avoid feeling depleted.
