Sitting around isn’t just a pleasure, it can make you smarter, report researchers in the journal
Psychology and Aging. They followed activity levels of subjects ages 60 to 80 for a week, then asked them to complete 16 brain tasks. The researchers found those who spent more time sitting performed better on mental tasks than those who moved around more. The scientists say the “sitters” were more likely to read or do puzzles, activities that grow the area of the brain that processes and stores information.
