30 minutes to migraine relief

-

Setting aside a little bit of quiet time a few days a week can go a long way to reducing migraines and boosting quality of life. Researchers in JAMA Internal Medicine found that a half hour of guided audio meditation and yoga instruction twice weekly significantly reduced the frequency of volunteers’ migraines. Plus, they had fewer symptoms of depression and improved quality of life compared to a group who received migraine education alone—with benefits lasting up to 36 weeks. The study author says meditation counteracts stress, the most common migraine trigger, by increasing calming brain chemicals and lowering stress hormones.
