“I make $1,000 a week selling seeds, plants and herbal remedies!”

-

“I used to work as a hairstylist and hair educator, but when I moved down South, I left my career behind. I’ve always loved gardening and took a few online courses to learn about medicinal herbs. Last March, I decided to post a video on Facebook about planting, and it went viral, so I launched Gods Garden Girl, a company that sells seeds, starter plants, herbal medicinal remedies, tinctures, teas and personal-care products. I used to sell products in my salon, so I knew what to do, but I researched all of the values of the herbs and formulated and tested them on myself.

“To get the business off the ground, I set up a website (GodsGardenGirl.com) and applied for a state license to sell the seeds and plants. I also purchased bags, jars, labels and boxes from Amazon and wholesalers. I sell unique plants like lemon cucumber, purple okra and green chiretta, which is being used in Thailand as an alternative COVID-19 remedy. Everything I sell is from my home garden. I’ve had 900 sales so far! I also teach classes on gardening and natural medicine-making on Zoom. The products cost between $3 and $30. Some of the classes are free while others cost between $20 and $50.

“I market the business on social media, including Instagram, YouTube and Facebook, and through my email list, but a lot of my customers find me through word-of-mouth referrals. I love this business because I am offering products that help people and I get to be outside. I make about $1,000 a week—money that goes back into the business and allows my husband and me to go out to eat and travel.”
