is wrapped around a stack of old books held together by branches of greenery along with a candle in a Scandinavian candleholder and a key. Margot painted large pinecones with white spray paint to give them snowy appeal and placed them under the tree. • ANTIQUE CHRISTMAS figures are cozy and safe inside an old bell jar. “The Santa Claus and bells were made with cotton wool in Germany at the beginning of 1900,” says Margot. “The baubles in the tiny tree are made of real glass. It’s all very old and precious. After Christmas, I put them carefully in a box and keep it on top of a cabinet in our bedroom to make sure nothing will happen to it.” The other bell jar is housing an old Bible wrapped up with lace ribbon and old music paper. • THE CHIMNEY was made by Harm using special stones with a vintage look. Margot gave them a patina to add extra authenticity. Two old iron ornaments are set behind the wood stove for added character. When the fire’s not burning, Margot puts candles in the stove to “see some light behind the doors.”
