“You can never have enough mermaids!”

IN THE 1950S AND 1960S, aquatic-themed wall décor splish-splashed into American homes. Used to decorate areas such as bathrooms and patios, the ceramic plaques depict mermaids toting pearls, playful seahorses or “kissing” fish blowing bubbles, and have become hot décor again today. These were reeled in at the home of one of our favorite vintage experts, Jennie Elizarrez (@jennie_loves). “My husband says, ‘You have enough mermaids,’ but I say, ‘You can never have enough mermaids!’” laughs Jennie. “I’ve been collecting them about 10 years. I have Norcrest, Enesco, many Lefton, Napco. I love their faces and expressions.” And, as Jennie says, “Once you have three, it’s a collection!”
