DESIGN TRENDS
Use these vintage organization hacks to keep your home structured without losing its charm.
Go Industrial
You can find old, industrial pieces from warehouses, such as lockers, storage racks and cabinets, at any flea market. It seems like there’s never enough counter space for bathroom storage, so a cabinet with glass doors would come in handy for toiletries and towels.
IT SEEMS LIKE NO HOME IS EVER EQUIPPED WITH ENOUGH STORAGE to keep things organized and out of the way. Sure, your garage, attic and closets provide space for keeping storage hidden, but what about the things you want to keep nearby for frequent use?
It’s important to keep those items close and easily found to keep your life running smoothly. That’s when vintage finds can help you get the mess-free home you want without losing all the charm you’ve worked so hard to build. We’ve put together a gallery of our favorite vintage pieces for organization that won’t compromise the character of your home.
Tried and True
Nothing quite beats a vintage cabinet for storing your prized possessions. Be cognizant of what the doors are made of when choosing the right storage piece. Glass doors will highlight what you put inside, while wooden doors can hide what’s stored inside.
Damage Control
You don’t have to worry about making holes in your walls if you hang décor from a door instead. Baskets, trays, hooks, clipboards and more can all be hung from an upright door to keep your space organized and save your walls from damage.
Cubby Coordinated
If you have several smaller treasures that aren’t part of a collection, putting them together on an open shelf can look eclectic and disjointed. Instead, it can be visually pleasing to give them each their own cubby hole to showcase them individually while technically they’re grouped together.
Hidey Holes
For the craft enthusiast and collector, small collections can be tricky to maintain in an orderly fashion. To keep your supplies visible and within reach, store like objects in clear jars and line them up on a shelf or table. For objects not worthy of display, you can hide them in pots and label them.
