RAF Bomber Command Casualties

-

Around 125,000 aircrew served with RAF Bomber Command during WW II. Their average age was 22 and they were all volunteers.

Almost 60 percent of that total—73,814— became casualties, including 55,573 killed, 8,403 injured, and 9,838 shot down to become prisoners of war. Of Lancaster aircrew alone, 22,743 were killed or captured.

The BBMF Lancaster provides a flying, living tribute to them all.
