The Crypto men’s bag brand de­buts footwear styles.

The na­tive of Turkey launched his ac­ces­sories ca­reer in the U.S. in 1995 with his Crypto col­lec­tion of mes­sen­ger bags made from re­cy­cled bill­board ads. “It be­gan as an art project,” he said. “I loved get­ting my de­signs on peo­ple’s shoul­ders.” For spring ’19, Avsar has added shoes, in­clud­ing In­done­sian­made boots and ath­letic looks in­flu­enced by work, street and mil­i­tary fash­ion. “It’s for the stylish ur­ban guy who likes to stand out and wants more than a sneaker from an es­tab­lished shoe com­pany.” Avsar also con­tin­ues to pur­sue his art, op­er­at­ing a gallery and re­tail space in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he plans to sell his footwear and more. The shoe line is slated for a Jan­uary de­liv­ery and is avail­able now for whole­sale. —
