Today’s hottest new acts gathered for Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood event.

It’s all about trends for today’s tastemakers — and entertainment’s rising talent gave their take on fashion’s most popular fads last week on the red carpet. When it comes to the no-pants look, made standard by Hailey Baldwin and Ariana Grande, the reviews were mostly positive.
“I have had a heavy phase with that, and I was doing it all the time,” said singer Chantel Jeffries at Variety’s annual Power of Young Hollywood event, sponsored by H&M, in L.A. last week. “I haven’t done it recently with thigh-high boots, but I think it’s easy — it’s only two things. How much easier does it get than that?”
Influencer Gigi Gorgeous is a big fan of the statement style.
She said, “I feel like [Grande] is the pioneer of that fashion, but I just like to show my body more. I can get down with that look on a lazy day or if you’re glam from the neck up and don’t want to be in something tight, just throw on a sweater and thigh-highs, and you’re turnt.”
As far as makers of the dad shoe trend are concerned, the young generation still can’t get enough.
Said singer Daya, “I’m so into [it]. I just bought a pair of the Jeffrey Campbell ones — I’m into the retro look.”
Jeffries also said that she’s a fan, with Louis Vuitton’s Archlight sneakers being a go-to.
Actress Madison Pettis told FN she loves the look but hasn’t bought a pair yet. “I’m so short, I don’t think it’ll look good on me,” the Disney star explained.
The Variety event, where entertainers were fêted for making an impact on the industry this year, honored Shawn Mendes, Pete Davidson and Amandla Stenberg. Other up-and-comers on the red carpet included Madison Beer, Kiersey Clemons, Joey King and more.
