Though there have been many style influencers, there has only been one style icon.

FN has handed out multiple style influencer awards through the years to hot young stars such as J Balvin in 2019 and Hailey Baldwin in 2017. But thereʼs been only one Icon Award — and thatʼs for a good reason. At age 95, Iris Apfel (now 98) accepted the inaugural honor for her influence, unrivaled spirit and singular fashion sensibility. “Everything with me just happens; Iʼve never had a plan for anything,” said Apfel, who sat for a cover shoot in 2017. “I get an idea, and then I try it. I donʼt worry about whatʼs going to happen because if itʼs not so good, the fashion police are not going to take me away. And if they do, it might be a blessing for everyone.”
