Burgess Celebrates A Successful 2018 Is Underway As New Superyachts Take Top Honors
Beneath the glamour of Italy’s Palazzo Vecchio, the Burgess team celebrated another banner year as some of the world’s newest luxury superyachts afloat took top honors at the World Superyacht Awards last spring. With yachts nominated across 18 categories, the event was a mere reflection of the impressive credentials of a company that has consistently excelled since its inception in 1975. Burgess — the company that specializes in yachts of more than 100 feet (30 meters) in length and that has 13 offices around the world — was delighted to have contributed to award-winning yachts in the various categories for design, construction and outstanding features of engineering.
The tradition and celebration of successful new-build projects showcased at the awards included the newly built 239.5-foot (73-meter) motor yacht Hasna, which took top honors as “The Best Displacement Motor Yacht between 500 Gross Tons and 1,999 Gross Tons.” Judges praised the yacht’s exquisite exterior lines as well as the practical layout of her decks, and were particularly impressed with “the high quality of the yacht’s construction and finish throughout, from the fairness of the hull and the perfection of the interior build right through to the technical installation.”
Delivered in 2017, Hasna — built by the Dutch shipyard Feadship — includes an 8-meter-long green, slate-tiled infinity swimming pool on the main deck aft, an extensive gym and cardio room in the full-beam beach club with opening terraces, and an impressive cinema.
Rory Boyle from Burgess New Construction, who acted as the owner’s rep and technical team leader on the Hasna build project, said, “Burgess was delighted to be involved in the build of such a sophisticated yacht for one of our long-standing clients. We are thrilled to have been chosen to work with Royal Van Lent and help produce what has turned out to be a fantastic product. We are all delighted that Hasna has been recognized in this way.”
In the “Displacement Motor Yachts 2,000 Gross Tons” category, 242.8-foot (74-meter) superyacht Cloud 9 was recognized as a finalist. From the early stages of its design, the Burgess New Construction team played a key role, from developing the technical specifications to completing project management, on-site supervision and the coordination of consultants. Cloud 9 is currently available for charter exclusively through Burgess for 875,000 euros per week (summers in the Mediterranean) and $875,000 per week (winters in the Caribbean). Cloud 9 is also listed for sale by Burgess for 84.5 million euros.
