A well-defined supplier diversity program like ours encourages new products, ideas, services and solutions. It promotes innovative ways of thinking about how to deliver care to our members when they’re at their most vulnerable. In 2018, Independence’s supplier diversity program celebrated a landmark spend of more than $100 million with diverse suppliers. This was achieved through a multi-year strategy across all of our affiliates to build alliances with businesses owned by people of color, veterans and women. I’m proud to have the opportunity to help ensure that our business relationships reflect the diversity of the community in which we live and work.
