After failing to acquire AC Milan last summer, Commisso scooped up Italian football club Fiorentina for a price reportedly between $150 million and $200 million. Commisso immigrated to the U.S. from Italy at age 12; his first job in his new country was playing the accordion during movie theater intermissions in the Bronx. He later got a scholarship to Columbia University, where he played soccer. After working in the cable industry for years, he founded cable firm Mediacom, the main source of his fortune.
