Big art collectors, Rales and his wife, Emily, bought Lee Krasner’s

The Eye Is the First Circle (1960) for $11.7 million in May. It is out on tour until 2021, at which time it will be put on display at their Glenstone Museum in Potomac, Maryland. They have donated more than $1 billion to the museum’s private foundation. Rales’ fortune comes from the industrial firm Danaher, which he cofounded with his brother Steven (No. 82) in 1983; he still sits on the board.
