Harris’ Apollo Global Management, which first made a name for itself by investing in distressed debt, is making inroads into media, buying majority interests in Cox Enterprises’ radio and broadcast television portfolios. The deals will give Apollo control of over a dozen TV stations and 60 radio stations. Harris, who cofounded Apollo in 1990, showed his business chops early: The Maryland native spent several college summers managing lemonade stands outside the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and other D.C. spots.
