He cofounded Vista Equity Partners, which has conducted more software acquisitions in the past decade than any other financial investor. He grew up lower-middle class in a Boston suburb; his father is an immigrant from India and his mother Irish-Catholic. His big break: meeting Robert Smith (No. 131) and joining him at Goldman Sachs and then cofounding Vista with him in 2000.
