WHY AMD IS BETTING ITS CHIPS ON EFFICIENCY.

-

Chipmaker AMD has been gaining ground in its fight against Intel for market share, and a key weapon is its new Ryzen processor. Early reviews say the chip has been beating Intel core processors in recent tests and, crucially, is 25 times more efficient than its other processors. “At AMD, we’re all about building great products that can change the world for the better,” says CEO Lisa Su, who has tasked engineers with improving the energy efficiency of all products. That’s an environmental commitment that has helped the chipmaker rise in the Just 100 rankings, from No. 89 two years ago to No. 65 this year. “It’s equally important that we as a company have a positive impact on the communities in which we operate and on the world in which we live,” Su says. “It’s important to me as CEO, and I know it’s important to AMD employees around the world.”
