Williams got rich by cofounding Twitter, but he has been making a statement with Medium, the blogging site he started in 2012. In June, as Black Lives Matter protests swept the nation, Williams made headlines by bringing the unsigned NFL player and activist Colin Kaepernick onto Medium’s board. He also owns about 6% of plant-based protein company Beyond Meat, which as of July has distribution deals with grocery stores in China, France and Canada, helping boost the stock by two-thirds this year.
