When virus-related closures battered the hospitality industry, Mint House, which provides high-end short-term rentals for business travelers, was in a tough spot. The three-yearold company—which recorded $10.5 million in revenue in 2019—moved quickly to provide accommodation for people displaced by the pandemic, including college students and physicians traveling to Covid-19 hot spots. Those changes enabled Mint House not only to fill its existing rooms but also expand its available units by 40% in the third quarter. Now, with 400 short-term spaces in 10 cities across the United States, occupancy is back up to more than 80% from a low of 43% in March.
