FEELING TESTED
The College Board controls university-admissions exams in the U.S., but the pandemic has thrown its core product, the SAT, into disarray. Readers sent the troubled putative nonprofit straight to detention.
JOHN SCALIA: “Seems like everything ‘standardized’ is implicitly racially biased. Test takers either know the material or they do not. Forbes doesn’t mention if there are studies that correlate SAT/ACT scores with college success.”
JAMES LONIER:
“I think the only people
who liked these tests were college administrators who didn’t want to have to make actual [admissions] decisions.”
@PASHA_.26:
“[The College Board] is a proper monopoly—also, its online [Advanced Placement] exam was a massive fail.”
@ADAM.DUNLAP:
“The SAT is an IQ test. Nothing more.”
@MINDYBR99939350:
“Both the SAT and ACT may become less-used as colleges and universities seek alternative methods on acceptance of students.”
@JJANSEN1234:
“The USA has to reexamine [the College
Board’s] nonprofit situation. If you’re making a profit, maybe you’re not a nonprofit.”
MICHAEL ROCK: “Damn this test!”
