Youth will be usurped: The annual 30 Under 30 jamboree celebrating the world’s most talented tyros has been a Forbes hallmark for a decade, but our June/July issue shone the spotlight on a fresh cohort of gifted entrepreneurs: the inaugural, all-female 50 Over 50. Women of a certain age are perhaps the most undervalued, underappreciated asset in America today, and we’re proud to showcase them—starting with the most prominent member of the club, cover star Kamala Harris, elected vice president of the United States at age 56. Readers hailed these women—pols, financiers, scientists, entertainers, executives and more—with unbridled enthusiasm. “So glad to have a list that finally acknowledges that people don’t lose their brilliance after 50,” tweeted @ShaunChavis. Others were pleased to see themselves reflected in the pages of Forbes for the first time. “This makes me SO happy!!” @bjeweledbyme posted on Instagram. “I’m in grad school at 52, and this is just the kick in the butt I need to keep pushing forward.”
