Alvarado has spent more than four decades in construction. Her Denver-based firm, Alvarado Construction, which she founded in 1976, led the building of the Denver Broncos’ Mile High Stadium and the Colorado Convention Center. She and her husband have funneled the profits into more than 250 fast-food franchises— mostly Taco Bells—in seven states.
