PANHANDLING

There’s lots to do along Florida’s Emerald Coast, says Harris Kupperman, who spends a week or two there every summer. Here are a few of his favorite haunts.

WaterColor Inn

A family-friendly four-star owned by The St. Joe Company (one of Kupperman’s top holdings), Santa Rosa Beach’s WaterColor Inn has four pools and catered beach bon res. “It’s the nicest hotel in the Panhandle,” Kupperman says.

Grayton Beach

This patch of sand ranks among America’s best. “They let people who live in that county drive on it so everyone drives their pickup on and sets up tents. Everyone grills and has a grand time.”

AJ’s

A er some sun at Grayton Beach, head to this surf shack for something stronger. “There’s always a band playing. Everything else closes at 9 o’clock, so if you want entertainment a er 9, go to AJ’s.”
