GASSING UP
everyone is grousing about airfares, but prices are still historically low. A seat on a domestic flight will set you back an average of $360 these days, 27% less than in 2002, after adjusting for inflation. Improved fuel efficiency deserves much of the thanks, with U.S. airlines burning through 24% less gas than two decades ago. Good thing, since the price of jet fuel is up 140% since 2020.
