THE FORBES 400
Seemingly as inevitable as death and taxes, the rich once again have grown richer. Since 2009, the minimum net worth to make our annual ranking of the 400 wealthiest Americans has steadily increased to a record $2.1 billion. Even with this lofty price of admission, we welcomed 15 newcomers, including Drew Houston, CEO of online file-sharing firm Dropbox, and Thai Lee, an immigrant from South Korea who built a giant IT reseller. Seventeen from last year’s list dropped out of the ranks. A record 204 billionaires were not wealthy enough to make the cut this year.
