THIS YEAR, A record 204 Amer­i­can bil­lion­aires didn’t have suf­fi­cient wealth to crack The Forbes 400. Those who failed to make the $2.1 bil­lion cut in­clude a sports leg­end (Michael Jor­dan, $1.7 bil­lion), pri­vate-eq­uity giants who have been 400 reg­u­lars (Oak­tree Cap­i­tal’s Bruce Karsh and Howard Marks, $2 bil­lion each) and new bil­lion­aires (Pay­com Soft­ware’s CEO, Chad Richi­son, $1.3 bil­lion).
