A for­mer pro soccer player, Ka­vanaugh was on the 1984 U.S. Olympic team. Six years later, at 27, he co­founded IT provider World Wide Tech­nol­ogy in St. Louis. To ful­fill one early or­der on time, he rented a truck and drove 500 PCs six hours to Omaha. To­day, at 56, he’s CEO of the $10.4 bil­lion (sales) com­pany, with a 38% stake. He’s also part-owner of the St. Louis Blues hockey team.
