Upper Blue Lake

- — Don www.4reelfishin.com

Most of the lakes in our area are pretty close to turning over. Watch for it. When you see debris from the bottom of the lake floating on the surface. It will be on! There will be one last, fast feeding frenzy! Tic, tic, tic… Time is running out. Before you know it the fall bite will be over.

Upper BLUE LAKE:By far, the Upper Blue Lake has the best water quality of any of the lakes in our area. The water is crystal clear.. Probably your best bet is bass fishing right now. Sure you’ll hook in to a few trout if you stick with it but, if you want to catch pure numbers, bass fishin’ is the ticket. With the water being so clear, you can’t park yourself right on top of the bass. Remember, they (bass) can see you. So here is what works for Teresa and I…Catch a drift with the breeze . Let the wind slowly push you along as you are pulling a drop-shot rig that is trailing behind you. Try fishin’ along the shoreline of Hwy. 20. Before you know it,, you’ll be saying, fish on!

CLEAR LAKE:With the water temperatures starting to drop, the bass are given a hint from nature that fall is here and, it is now time to feed up for the upcoming winter months.. Pretty much, most any thing you have used in the past during the fall is going to work again. Baits like chatterbaits, crankbaits, swimbaits, drop-shottin’ or slow draggin’ plastics.. The trick is to stay on the move until you locate active fish.

* The Catfishing on

Clear Lake is really good.

Many are being caught under and along docks. The Library Park area and many of the docks along Hwy. 20 are good places to fish. The Catfish have followed the bait fish up into the shallower water. Chicken livers, night crawlers, and drifting live crawdads with a bobber has been working well

LAKE SONOMA —

The Bass fishing is has been very good. The north side of the lake `continues to be the best place to try your luck. Cherry Creek, Yorty Creek and the mouth of Skunk Creek are the happen’in spots. The word is that there are some smallouth bass being caught along the dam. Rattle Traps and deep diving crank baits have been working well.

SALMON FISHING — The word is that there are some salmon starting to coming up the Sacramento River right now. So if you are one of those salmon fisherman who just can’t get enough. Fill up your gas tank and head east. Trolling a flat fish or quick fish, have been the ticket. The mouth of the American River, the Woodson Bridge area and up river from discovery park are all reported to be the hot spots. The fishing has been wonderful! Many salmon that have been caught have been running in the 10 to 30 pound range.

One of the great things about fishing is that it is an escape. When you are fishin’ you can hit the pause button on all the garbage that the world gives us. Thanks for reading & remember to keep it reel!
