Are you a league player?

Rack ‘em up.

The Predator Apex

7-foot table is selling for a tad under $7000.00, and they claim much quieter pockets and ball returns. If you have one of the older 7-foot tables, you understand why they would upgrade to quieter pockets and ball return systems. The old tables are loud enough to cause a person to wish them gone.

Well then, at the very least, a good separation from the innocent and sedately calm imbibers as they quietly murmur to each other about how loud pool tables are. Milano’s Hotel and Bar have their pool table in a separate room, which seems to work out very well. I’m told the Milano table is the second busiest in town. The Welcome Inn back table is still the winner overall and has been for some time. But for how much longer, you ask? Milano’s has been customer oriented from the start, and it shows in the increase in patrons. Their pool table is the best in town for playing pool because it has the best clearance around a pool table. Try it out, and you might like the clearance. Also, it is separated from the murmurers.

When League begins again, can we easily add another night of League? Could we have a League night for Tuesday as usual and a second night of league on Thursdays at

7:00 pm? Yes, it seems we can, but as always, it is ultimately up to our sponsors, but they seem agreeable. We need someone to keep the same record-keeping level as Linda Long for Tuesday night League. If we want everyone playing that wants to play in League, we need that second night of play. That will open up at least 8 new spots to be a Captain on a team. We could have smaller teams if need be, but if they were still using 6-person teams would add nearly 50 players out and about and play in Thursday night League. Jacob and Joshua will probably clone the Tuesday night format playing on Thursdays at 7:00 pm.

If you are reading this, get ready for a memorial tournament at Welcome

Inn at 5:30 pm this Saturday, the 21st. All proceeds to benefit Greg’s family.

The Tournament winner’s name will be added to the Ed Eisen Trophy and will be the first added since the first Ed Eisen Tournament. This will be one you will be glad you joined to play or watch. Come on down!

Visiting Fort Bragg for the sights and scenes and want to meet some local people? Start with Karaoke singing at Angelina’s Grill and Bar every Friday night after 9:00 pm. Milano’s Hotel and Bar also has Karaoke. It is nearly as fun to watch and listen as it is to join in singing. Too shy to sing in public? Consider playing in the local pool tournaments. There are nearly 100 League players in Fort Bragg; some play in open tournaments for anyone who wishes to play a competitive game of 8 or 9-ball pool.

While Fort Bragg Pool League is on holiday until mid-February, you can still play competitive pool on a regular basis. There are 9-ball Tournaments every Monday night at a different venue and usually begin at 7:00 pm. There are 8-ball Tournaments at Welcome Inn every Thursday night at 7:00 pm. There are also 8-ball Tournaments at the Welcome Inn Saturday afternoons which start at 4:00 pm. If you want to start a tournament on another day or at your favorite venue, speak up, and you will have 8 to 12 players willing to give it a try. The iconic and very historic building houses the Golden West Saloon. GW has the most complete list of Spirits in Fort Bragg, and with your special Whiskey in hand, you can play CornHole with other patrons. Play pool games on one of their two tables or relax and take in the Historic building with photographs of the old-time methods of the early logging industry that adorn walls.

Cue Tip: When you are not playing well, try slowing down and suspending any use of spin on the cue ball. The simpler you can make it, the easier it will be to identify why you are not playing up to your usual standard. Focus on your smooth flat stroke, light grip, and careful aim.
