Those whom ignore the past are doomed to repeat it

-

Lake Mendocino — The bass fishin’ has (maybe) picked up a wee-bit on our backyard lake? Specifically the small mouth bass. Try a chartreuse or white colored spinner bait with gold double willow blades, or a 4” jerk bait, twitching it along. The key is to cover a lot of water. Fish areas with a lot of structure and rocks. Stick with it, you’ll get a few. Also heard that there has been some nice catfish caught on anchovies at the channel. But here’s the deal, the bass fishin’ won’t really start to pick up until the lake level stabilizes. It shuts the bite down. Especially, ESPECIALLY when the water level drops like it is right now.

*Speaking of the water level dropping, What is up with it anyway? Dat-burit! The lake has dropped about 10 feet. Many anglers are very frustrated with the water being dumped! What’s that saying? “Those whom ignore the past are doomed to repeat it?” Many anglers are saying, “Okay, enough water has been released for flood control! I thought that there was a new common sense policy in regard to the control of the water level at Lake Mendocino ! But it looks like the same old , same old ! Gosh, the forecast for February does not look so great when it comes to rain storms! “Well, I am prayin’ that common sense will prevail..

Lake Sonoma- I have been told that there are a few bass being caught . They are holding tight to submersed timber . You got to be your bait right in the middle of the tree and work it real slow.

Try a plastic worm in a darker color like junebug. The bite is real soft. Feel the tap, set the hook and quickly bring the fish up to the surface .

Russian River — The steelhead fishin’ on the Russian River has been fair at best, even though the fishin’ conditions are decent. As of Monday, there just isn’t that many fish in the river right now. So if you are blessed enough to catch one or two, you will have to really work for it. With that being said, here is what has been working best. Fishing anywhere between Pieta Creek and south of Dry Creek is all good. The anglers fishin’ from banks need to cover a lot of water. Try drifting a spin in glo with eggs. Drift boaters are doing the best mainly because they can easily cover the most water. Boaters have been side

drifting, draggin’ eggs and fish pills. Also some have been pulling along a hot shot or wiggle wart. Good Luck!

Lake Pillsbury — Good news from up on the mountain. The word is that the trout fishin’ is good right now! Anglers that have made the trip up the hill, have been hooking into some really nice trout. Some knocking on 3 pounds. Try fishin’ off the docks with a nightcrawler at the Lake Pillsbury Resort. The potholes have been NOT been filled, so if you take a trip to

Lake Pillsbury don’t be in a hurry.

Kindness is — and always will be — one of the most beautiful and powerful forces for good. Something that we see less and less in today’s world. Kindness is a choice. Choose to take the high road of kindness. Kindness is the sincere and voluntary use of one’s time, talent, and resources to better the lives of others, and the world through genuine acts of love, compassion, generosity, and service. Be kind to someone and notice what happens .
