Hailing from more than four decades of valuable experience as an entrepreneur, Steven Qun Shen is the founder of the China-U.S. Business Summit, which functions as a platform to connect American entrepreneurs with Chinese business interests. Established in 2009, the organization holds annual summit events in China and the U.S. and has over 1,000 members on both sides of the Pacific Ocean. Mr. Shen is also chairman of A Perfect Love, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation formed in 2019 that seeks to provide financial, educational and emotional support to American families who have adopted Chinese children with special needs that range from cerebral palsy to autism, among other conditions. The organization has also attracted international experts to train teachers and medical staff on effectively addressing mental health needs in China. To help shine a light on the issues faced by children in both his native China and the U.S., Mr. Shen spearheaded the production of an inspirational documentary, “A Perfect Love,” about one American family’s dream to adopt a child with special needs from China. Eight years and six special-needs children later, the family copes with the everyday struggles of bringing two worlds and cultures together to form an everlasting bond. Today, the nonprofit, A Perfect Love has financially supported more than 90 adoptive families with its 16 ongoing daily charitable projects.
Outside of his charitable endeavors, Mr. Shen is also well-regarded for his wide-ranging expertise as an investor, financier and media executive, holding additional leadership positions with Beijing Newshen Film & Television Communication Inc. and International Classic Communications Inc. Among his career accomplishments, Mr. Shen is particularly proud to have played an instrumental role in promoting the causes of multiculturalism, the performing arts and commerce between China and the U.S. He is the chief executive officer for planning and launching both the San Francisco Chinese Lantern Festival in 1998 and the inaugural Sundance Film Festival in Beijing in 1996. A prolific documentarian, he has received over 40 awards for his work from film festivals since 2008. With more than 30 years of experience in international trade and commerce, Mr. Shen has distinguished himself as one of the top business leaders, possessing an inherent knack for business strategy, negotiation and economics. Additionally, Mr. Schen is the author of a popular book, “America Is Also Ridiculous,” an autobiography of his life in the U.S., released in 2010.
