There is an un­be­liev­able power be­hind to­day’s phone cam­eras that can pro­duce amaz­ing travel pho­tos. How­ever, even the very best pho­tos need a lit­tle at­ten­tion post­pro­duc­tion to re­ally pop. Find­ing time to up­load and edit 200+ pho­tos from each trip on your com­puter can be a chal­lenge. Luck­ily, there’s a va­ri­ety of photo-edit­ing apps that do just as good if not bet­ter than Pho­to­shop while be­ing quick and user friendly. Here are some go-to apps ev­ery trav­eler should add to their smart­phone cam­era bag.

LIGHTROOM

A sub­scrip­tion to Lightroom links all your de­vices seam­lessly then syncs all your pho­tos on the cloud and al­lows you to sort col­lec­tions by desti­na­tion. Though the mo­bile ver­sion doesn’t give you as many edit­ing op­tions as the desk­top ver­sion it has enough Pho­to­shop power to pro­duce a great fi­nal im­age.

SNAPSEED

Snapseed a sim­ple all-in-one edit­ing suite. As one of the best mo­bile photo-edit­ing pro­grams in the app store, it gives you ac­cess to a large va­ri­ety of tools from white balance en­hance­ment to se­lec­tive blur­ring. It al­lows some of the more com­plex photo ed­its on the go, but un­like other apps that of­ten re­quire in-app pur­chases for the best fea­tures, Snapseed is 100% free.

SKRWT

If you shoot a lot with a GoPro or ol­lo­clip lense for your phone, you of­ten get a bit of dis­tor­tion on photo edges. This is one of the best apps to cor­rect lens dis­tor­tion. Not only will it re­move the dis­tor­tion, it al­lows you to change the perspective and com­po­si­tion of the photo. The au­to­matic crop­ping fixes crooked lines adding sym­me­try to your pho­tos.

RAYS

This app eas­ily adds re­al­is­tic light ray ef­fects to any photo. Un­like sim­i­lar apps such as Len­sLight that add ar­ti­fi­cial light­ing ef­fects, Rays works by us­ing the ex­ist­ing light sources in your pho­tos. You can change the gen­eral di­rec­tion, opac­ity, color, and in­ten­sity of the rays.

SLOW SHUT­TER CAM

This app gives you con­trol over your iPhone cam­era’s shut­ter speed so you can cap­ture pho­tos in low light. While this isn’t ex­actly an edit­ing app, it gives you the power of a DSLR on your phone by al­low­ing you to cap­ture mo­tion blurs and light trails us­ing long ex­po­sure.
