SummerWood Winery & Inn is located three hours outside of Los Angeles in Paso Robles, Calif. Owned by the Fukae family of Osaka, Japan, SummerWood Winery offers some of Paso Roble’s best vino. Its Tasting Room has daily five-tasting flights of its top bottles. The whites include Grenache Blanche, blended and pure Viogniers, Vin and Diosa Blanche and a Grenache Rose.

The winery also has a stunning array of reds like Sentio, a Bordeaux blend; Zinfandel, Paso’s prized grape; and GSM, a popular blend of Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah. SummerWood also bottles a Private Reserve of reds, some aged 24 months. SummerWood only makes about 2500 cases of its wines per year, and the brand is only available at their winery or online.

There’s no traveling far for a good night’s rest after a trip to SummerWood Winery – its inn is right across the street. The nineroom hotel, renovated in 2013, has nine sleekly appointed rooms, all named after SummerWood’s wine brands. That includes the 1000 sq. ft. Diosa suite, nestled in an oak tree with a private rooftop and designed in navy blue, mahogany, white, and gold accents.

Inn guests are treated to a complimentary bottle of SummerWood wine upon check-in and can enjoy the 5 p.m. happy hour with complimentary wine and delicious evening snacks like salmon and asparagus and wedge lettuce with crumbled blue cheese. Later in the evening, SummerWood serves chocolate chip cookies and bedtime tea (if you haven’t filled up on the caramels left on your pillow during turndown service like the DivaGals did).
