Sharath Kamal wins ‘Khel Ratna’ award
TABLE TENNIS legend and Commonwealth Games medalist Achanta Sharath Kamal has been awarded with the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award 2022, the highest sporting honour in India.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on Monday also announced the National Sports Awards 2022. The awardees will receive their awards from the Indian president at a specially organized function on November 30.
26 athletes have been chosen for Arjuna Awards for outstanding performance, including Lakshya Sen and Prannoy HS in Badminton, boxer Nikhat Zareen, discus thrower Seema Punia and chess prodigy R. Praggnanandhaa.
Seven coaches have been honoured with the Dronacharya Award.
Ashwini Akkunji C (Athletics), Dharamvir Singh (Hockey), BC Suresh (Kabaddi), Nir Bahadur Gurung (Para Athletics) have won the Dhyan Chand Award for Lifetime Achievement.
