Indian American arrested in crypto Ponzi scheme
FEDERAL law enforcement authorities in the US arrested an Indian American, Rathanakishore Giri, in Ohio on Friday on criminal charges related to his alleged involvement in a cryptocurrency investment fraud scheme that raised at least $10m from investors.
According to court documents, Giri (27) from New Albany allegedly misled the investors by fraudulently promoting himself as an expert cryptocurrency trader, with a specialty in trading Bitcoin derivatives.
As alleged in the indictment, the accused falsely promised the investors that he would generate lucrative returns with no risk to their principal investment amount, which he guaranteed to return, federal prosecutors alleged.

The G20's Bali Declaration on Wednesday (16) acknowledged differences among members on the Russia-Ukraine war but stressed that it was essential to adhere to international law, including the protection of civilians caught in conflicts.
The members of the grouping made it clear that they were against the use or threat of use of nuclear weapons and sought ‘peaceful resolution of conflicts.'
‘Today's era must not be of war,' the declaration said, echoing the remark made by prime minister
