SHOP FOR GROCERIES ONLINE
Stock your kitchen away from home with just a click
Nobody wants to waste precious vacation time standing in a supermarket line when you can be outdoors playing in the Florida sunshine. Here are two online services where you can order what you want and have it delivered too. Stocking your kitchen, eating in and entertaining when you’re on vacation should be effortless.
Captiva Provision Company
Preordering groceries, as well as wine, beer and liquor, is as easy as click, click, click for guests at the South Seas Island Resort. Using the resort’s website, you can meal plan and select food and beverages from the comfort of your cottage, villa or vacation home—and your purchases will be delivered right to your doorstep. (This can also be done pre-arrival so your groceries arrive the same day you do.)
On the resort’s website menu, under “Dining,” Captiva Provision Company has set up an online order form that allows guests to browse everything from fresh meats and seafood to Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Order specialty foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, quality meats, fresh baked goods and Boar’s Head meats and cheeses from the full-service deli.
Captiva Provision also has a nice assortment of spirits, from Tito’s Vodka to Bacardi Rum and Jose Cuervo Tequila. Wines and champagnes along with a selection of the most popular beers make the list, too.
Located across the street from the resort’s entrance, Captiva Provision is like a neighborhood supermarket that delivers with a smile. And to make it easier yet, you can charge it all to your room.

Bailey’s General Store, Sanibel
More than your average place to shop for groceries, Bailey’s General Store is brimming with quality food and drink, as well as hardware, gift items and must-have beach stuff. For those who want convenience so they can spend more time enjoying the island life, Bailey’s offers online shopping and delivery service to both Sanibel and
Captiva, which is complimentary for purchases of $250 and up; otherwise, there’s a $25 charge. You can also opt to pick up your groceries.
Visit the store’s home page, select “Online Ordering” from the menu bar, and start your shopping list. (Ordering by phone is available too.) You’ll find choices like organic or local produce, homemade bakery items or Bailey’s signature Mermaid Cake, and Dietz & Watson gourmet deli meats and cheeses—regular or gluten-free. Dairy products, frozen foods, beer and wine are also available.
You can also order freshly prepared meals such as fried chicken or whole roasted chickens and, of course, all the ingredients you’ll need to cook your own meal. Choosing the Vacation Starter Package, which offers all the essentials, is an easy way to go. Dairy products, frozen foods, beer and wine are also on the shopping-list form Bailey’s designed for customers to use, and debuting in 2020, the updated web page will provide shoppers the opportunity to select each item themselves.
“We are proud to offer full-service grocery deliver,” says Calli Johnson, owner/operator. “Island visitors and residents can start the order process by calling us or ordering online at baileys-sanibel.com. Once they place their order, our grocery-staff team shops and confirms the items in their basket. When complete, our delivery staff will bring the order to their home or rental and stock the entire kitchen so it is ready for their arrival. This is a truly hands-off and stress-free way to prepare for your trip. Save yourself the trouble and let us take care of your shopping; consider us your personal grocery elves!”

The Island Store
This small store doesn’t offer online services, but it’s a great place to easily shop when on Captiva as it’s conveniently located in the downtown. Although under renovation in early 2020, The Island Store will reopen later this year. Until then you can order groceries online through its sister company, Bailey’s General Store.
