Camels live in some of the hottest deserts on Earth, which is why their bodies are made to survive temperatur­es over 120°F. Besides their thick hooves that keep their feet from burning, camels rely on their famous humps to beat the heat. These humps hold up to 80 pounds of fat that can be converted into water and energy, as needed.
